Can you believe that houses that feature charcoal grey or black doors sell, on average, for $6,000 more than other houses? People feel that they’re serious, stately, and safe, and buyers will pay more money for a house with those colors. Unfortunately, yellow-painted exteriors detract from home sales. On average, homes with yellow exteriors sell for $3,408 less than other homes.
For kitchens, tuxedo cabinets are all the rage, and tend to bring in about $1,500 more. The most popular colors for kitchens are navy blue or black islands with white cabinets. Sandy brown and yellow colors can earn you $1,700 less, so I’d recommend avoiding those.
For bathrooms, buyers love light blue and periwinkle—you could get up to $3,000 more for having a bathroom that features those colors.

Neutral-colored living rooms are preferred, and could bring in about $2,800 more. If you paint your living room red, you could lose about $2,300.
If you ever thought that paint color didn’t matter, know that it really does. Even though it’s a quick fix, it either turns buyers on or off. So it’s wise to take your agent’s advice when they mention changing up your colors.
